Sophie Holloway first joined the Australian
Social Science Data Archive in 1995. She initially focused on the
cleaning and documenting of the National Social Science Surveys and has
since managed the survey fieldwork for the Australian Election Study,
the Australian Candidate Study and the Australian Survey of Social Attitudes.
She retains a strong interest in data collection methods.
As a Data Archivist, Sophie has a strong interest in balancing the preservation
role of the archive with the ease of accessibility required by users.
She believes strongly in letting archive developments be guided by the
academic data creators and data users. Sophie's current areas of interest
include:
- Development of the ARC funded Historical and Colonial Census Data
Archive in conjunction with researchers from the RSSS History Program,
ADSRI and the ANU Super Computer Facility.
- Pilot into establishing an Indigenous Data Archive
- Developing an Asia/Pacific data archiving capacity
Sophie holds a BA with Honours in Sociology from the ANU with a focus
on Social Research Methods and is currently working towards a Diploma
of Project Management.
