Dr David Lucas is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Australian Demographic and Social Research Institute. He joined the Demography Program at ANU in 1976, having previously worked in Lesotho (1959-1966), Kenya (1966-8) and Nigeria (1970-3). He received his PhD from the London School of Economics in 1976. Dr Lucas was President of the African Studies Association of Australasia and the Pacific from 2008 to 2009 and is President of the Welsh Society of Canberra.
Research Interests
His research interests include migrants to Australia (especially from the UK and Africa) ancestry and diasporas and African demography.
