2. Examining distributions and measures of dispersion

Skewness; range; interquartile range; variance and standard deviation.

3. Confidence intervals

Confidence intervals and significance levels.

4. Asking research questions

Theory; operational hypotheses; null hypothesis; outcomes in hypothesis testing.

5. Comparing means

T-test; F-test.

6. Chi-square

Crosstabulation (chi-square); strength of association.

7. Correlation

Scatterplots; correlation coefficient; significance testing of the correlation coefficient.

8. Simple linear regression

Assumptions; method of least squares; hypothesis testing for simple linear regression.

9. Multiple linear regression

Assumptions; using dummy variables; hypothesis testing for multiple linear regression; estimating the mean value controlling for other predictors.
