Compulsory in the Master of Social Research (Demography) stream.

Course description:

The course acts as an introduction to the main content of the field of population studies and to the major theoretical considerations. An emphasis is placed on current population issues in both developed and less developed countries. The course seeks to help students to understand major demographic trends, their causes and consequences in the world today.

The course is intended primarily for students taking the Graduate Certificate or Master of Social Research, but is open to students of any graduate program of the University. There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Assessment:

The course is assessed through three essays.
